Born in Wisconsin, Chris moved South with her family, first to Richmond, Virginia, and then to Birmingham when she was 12. She loves being a girl raised in the South, and her only remaining Midwestern traits are a love for the Packers and a fondness for bratwurst. Today, Chris is the center support that keeps the seesaw of her family balanced, leading a blended family of three young adults and enjoying an empty nest.

A North Carolina native, Jennifer has called Colorado Springs, CO, Lynchburg, VA, New Orleans, LA, and Charleston, SC home since graduating from Elon University in 2003. She has spent time as a journalist, event planner, and sports information director. Now, the Birmingham newcomer is a full-time marketing professional and owner of Birmingham Stork Lady, a sign rental service dedicated to welcoming new babies home. She has been married to her husband Mike for eight years, and together they have three daughters.

After graduating from college, Julie worked for ten years as a paralegal and as a medical software programmer before becoming a SAHM to her and her husband’s two toddlers. Life is crazy for her these days, but a lot of Jesus and a little exercise and painting keeps her sane! Leah grew up in a small town in north Jefferson County. She attended UAB and graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She currently has one part-time job for a business consulting/web design firm and two freelance writing jobs (one for a local newspaper and the other for a healthcare services firm). A resident of Chelsea since 2005, Leah and her husband Todd have been married for 13 years and have a son, Carson, and daughter, Morgan. If there is every downtime in her schedule, you will find Leah at Starbucks, Target, getting a pedicure or spending time with her girlfriends.

Rebekah

Rebekah moved around a lot growing up but has been blessed to call Birmingham home since she graduated from The University of Alabama in 2011. She, her husband Jon, and their one-year-old son Jason live in Vestavia Hills with their beagle Mozzie. Rebekah is a librarian and a vacation planner for all Disney Destinations at Girl Meets Mouse. So, naturally, she loves books and all things Disney. Rebekah also loves cooking, gardening, time with friends, and that sweet hour in the morning where everything is quiet. She relies heavily on Mountain Dew but more so on God’s grace to live out every day.

A native to the Birmingham area, Lindsay is a 28 year old retired professional ballerina. She spent her time training and performing with prestigious dance companies around the country. Now, she is holding down the fort in Gardendale, Lindsay lives with her loving husband, Ian and three children Nixson (7), Lily (4) and Amelia (3months). You’ll find Lindsay sharing her love for dance, as a ballet instructor for Dale Serrano Dance. An active member of her church, Gardendale First Baptist, Lindsay lives her life with unwavering faith and love for the Lord.

Tabitha has spent her entire life living in various parts of St. Clair County . . . small town life but close enough to the city to enjoy all it has to offer. She’s been married to her high school sweetheart for 13 years. Tabitha spends her days as a blogger and homeschool mom to Gavin, a 4th grader who loves animals, books, geography, LEGO, Disney, roller coasters, museums, pirates and karate. Indeed, he keeps her life interesting! Part of what makes it interesting is homeschooling an only child – it’s a unique journey!

Mallory grew up in Oklahoma, met her husband Dave in college there, and they have lived in Maryland, Michigan, and now Alabama since getting married ten years ago. They are parents to three sweet little girls, ages 5, 3, and 1. Four years ago they moved to Birmingham, and Mallory now works as a college professor, where she teaches the best students around and also conducts research on the topic of exercise during pregnancy.

Andrea was born and raised in Birmingham in the house that her parents still live in! A private school kid, she married her High School sweetheart, Robby, & they both graduated from Auburn University! Robby and Andrea knew Birmingham was the only place they wanted to raise a family! Now 16 years of marriage, 3 beautiful kids, 4 cats, 2 hamsters & a dog later, Birmingham is still the best place to raise their growing family!

Bobbi was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where she graduated from the University of Alabama with her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and later moved to Birmingham in 2010. She soon after met her husband who she has been married to for 6 years now. She has two children, Charlotte and Jacob.

Brittany was born in Birmingham and grew up in the Cahaba Heights community. She recently moved back to Birmingham after spending the past twelve years in the Huntsville area. Brittany graduated from Auburn University and is an elementary teacher. Since moving back to Birmingham she is a special needs paraeducator. Brittany and her husband, Brent, have three kids, ages 10, 6, and 4.

Courtney moved to Birmingham six years ago with the dream of becoming a nurse in the Neonatal ICU. She left behind her five wild brothers but brought along her high school sweetheart, David. David and Courtney got married after their freshman year at UAB. They thrived on cans of soup while pursuing their education and working odd jobs. Courtney graduated and landed her dream job in the Neonatal ICU. One year later, her husband also graduated and began working as an Engineer. They now live in Trussville with their 16-month-old son, Noah.

Erin is a transplant, relocating to Birmingham from the midwest just over three years ago. Born and raised in Wisconsin, she met her husband Karl while attending Purdue University. They had no idea when they received the opportunity to move south that the city had so much to offer. Together the couple has two girls: Hadley (6) and Allyson (9).

Hannah Pruitt never thought she would find herself living in Alabama...due to the unbearable summer temperatures. Her love for her husband, John, apparently overrides her desire to know what winter actually feels like. They live in Pelham, where she homeschools their five year old daughter, Adelaide, while also chasing one year twins, Edith and Vera. Hannah can be found wandering in the woods most days, because hiking means she’s not at home to face the mountains of laundry and unwashed dishes.

Katie is a native of Birmingham who moved out to the Bay Area for grad school and the start of her teaching career. After three years of 24/7 traffic and studio apartment living, she moved back to Birmingham and now lives in Homewood with her husband of three years, William. While enjoying Birmingham’s ample parking and fabulous people, Katie and William welcomed their children, Ava (2 1/2 years old) and Otto (1 1/2 years old). After teaching for four years, Katie became a SAHM to Ava and Otto. She and William are now anxiously awaiting the arrival of Baby #3 in October 2019.

Kerra was raised in a small Alabama town named Corner but finds her heart often wandering to the farthest corners of the world. She served in the Himalayas and therefore has a deep love for Asia and the international population as a whole. After becoming a stay-at-home mom, she volunteered with Perspectives, a study program to help others understand God's love for the nations and always has her doors open to the international community of Birmingham. One of the things she loves most about the city is the diversity mixed with Southern hospitality.

Laura Prewitt, 38, is a proud native of Birmingham, having lived here all life with the exception of college at Florida State University in Tallahassee, and a semester abroad in Spain. After graduating in 2004, she moved back to attend UAB, receiving a Masters in Communication Management. She is currently a full time SAHM but does take on the occasional freelance marketing project, and is excited for the opportunity to write and share with other parents.

Originally from North Carolina, Dr. Leesha says that her husband, Kenneth, dragged her to Birmingham, kicking and screaming. Now, ten years later, she is proud to call this hidden gem her home. She and Kenneth have been married for almost 17 years and have 3 beautiful, energetic children that keep their lives busy and fulfilling.

Sara is a Birmingham native, happily married wife to Adam, and mother to Charlotte (6 months). Sara spent her childhood in Shelby County, but moved to the city to attend college at UAB, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration. She works full time in a high risk maternity clinic where she has been supporting mamas long before she became one herself. In her spare time (yeah, right!) she can be found at the library, sewing new things for her baby girl, or wrangling their four rescue animals (two cats and two dogs).

Brandi is a southern girl through and through. Born and raised in Arkansas, she met an Alabama boy named Michael in college, got married, then settled in Alabama a few years later after traveling and living overseas. Brandi lives in Homewood with Michael and her two sons Noah (6) and Sam (2). She has been a full-time working mom, a stay-at-home-mom and a part-time working mom, and she is thankful for all three experiences.

Caitlin moved to Alabama from Virginia as a young child and has lived in and around Birmingham since. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Alabama and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She currently works full-time at a local, nonprofit child welfare agency, Agape of Central Alabama, and holds the title of Adoption Supervisor.

Emily, originally from Louisiana, lives with her husband, Jeremy and sons, Harrison (5) & Elliot (1) in Mc Calla. She recently moved from South Louisiana to the Birmingham area when her husband left his career in psychology to become a youth pastor. Emily is an elementary teacher by day, and blogger by night at her personal blog Louisiana Bride. She began blogging to document her wedding planning during the dark ages (before Pinterest). She has since transitioned her blogging style to sharing recipes, meal planning ideas, and the humor in her daily life.

Haley is an Alabama native who swore she would never end up back in Birmingham after college but has fallen in love with her city all over again since she graduated from the University of Alabama in 2007. With a degree in Advertising and Public Relations and a double minor in Marketing and English, Haley has always had a passion for helping the companies she’s worked for grow their brands and make a positive impact in their communities. Haley is currently the Marketing Director at Skin Wellness Center Dermatology.

Jeanna is a small-town girl originally from rural Livingston, Alabama. After living in Tuscaloosa for 12 years with her polar-opposite husband, they packed everything up for new adventures in Birmingham in November 2018. After spending many years working within the fields of interior and graphic design, Jeanna formed By Design Birth Doula Services in 2017 to encourage and support mothers to discover and use their innate strengths and abilities to achieve their best and most positive birth possible and carry that confidence into parenthood.

Katie, a native Alabamian, came to Birmingham in 2012 to pursue a master’s from UAB in Mental Health Counseling. She works as a Licensed Professional Counselor in her practice, Present Wellness Counseling, LLC, as well as in a residential treatment center for substance abuse. She and her husband were married in 2007 and have a son, Harpin, who’s been keeping them busy since 2016. She is learning daily how to bridge her child development background with real-life motherhood moments, and she is excited to share these experiences with her BMB readers.

Kristin is a small town girl, living just outside of Birmingham. She fulfilled the “city girl” portion of her life during college at UAB and has worked in the downtown area for almost twenty years. She has been married to her high-school sweetheart since college graduation and is currently renovating the home she grew up in! They have three daughters, Ella (12), Sophie (8), and their newborn, Polly.

Lauren is a Chicago native turned Alabama resident. She came to Alabama leaving behind great pizza, tall buildings, and white winters to become a doctor. Little did she know, she would meet one special person who would change her life forever. Now Lauren resides in Hoover with her husband, Dell, and two kids, Brysen and Karsyn. Born in China, Lisha moved to America at the age of 9. In her first few years here, Lisha became fluent in English, gained an abnormal love for boy bands and glitter lip gloss, and learned to love pizza. After graduating from Auburn University in 2006, Lisha moved to Birmingham to attend Cumberland School of Law. While in Birmingham, Lisha met her husband (Henry) and they have been married for 7 years. In 2016, they welcomed identical twin boys into the word. Lisha had a baby girl 22 months later, in 2017.

Growing up, if Sarah wasn’t in a tree channeling her inner Anne Shirley, she was riding her bike on adventures through Texas pasture land. Sarah fell in love with her best friend Tony after they shared an on-stage kiss in their high school play. Together Sarah and Tony attended Baylor University where Sarah received her undergraduate and graduate degrees. After a brief stint in Jacksonville, Florida, Tony and Sarah moved back to Birmingham where they now live with their four children, Sophia, Vincent, Luisa, and Grace.

Audra Smith did not spend her childhood in Alabama, but got down here as fast as she could! Originally from Ohio, Audra met and married her husband (of nearly 6 years now), Brian, while in college, and they decided to move to Alabama on a whim a year after graduation. Audra now resides in the Chelsea area (Sterrett) with her husband Brian, daughter Nora Jo, and living security system (lab/hound mix) Hamilton.

Just days after graduating from Auburn University, Ericka took a trip to Africa that changed her life forever. She discovered two unexpected things there: a passion for orphan care, and her husband Rusty! Together they founded The Sound of Hope, and have spent the past 10+ years working to provide holistic care to vulnerable children around the world. Though her heart (and time) is divided between other countries – she’s proud to call Birmingham, Alabama home!

Haley went to college at Lipscomb University in Nashville, and then moved back home to pursue her Master’s Degree at UAB. My name is Jocelyn Martin who did a lot of her growing up in Birmingham. I am the oldest of 6 kids & so close with all of them. At Auburn University I met my much-better half, Marty We got married and within a few years started having our babies. With 1 girl & 3 boys we like to say, "we have a little bit of drama & a whole lot of dirt." Baylor (16), William (14), Whitt (12) & Lee (7) keep us busy with school, sports, singing & a whole lot of running around the neighborhood.

Mary is a Northern girl living her best life in the South. She grew up in Pennsylvania and had the privilege of growing up in a suburb right outside of Philadelphia. Of course, she still loves cheering on Philadelphia sports (Fly Eagles Fly). In 2013 her family moved to Montgomery, Alabama so that her brother could pursue football. Montgomery is very special; it is where she met her husband, Chase. They met in a math class in high school (I know, how romantic). Now they have been married for almost 4 years and they have a sassy, Frozen 2 loving, 2-year-old (Claude).

She and her husband Ben love the challenge of raising triplets and find joy in being “those people.” As a former elementary school teacher, Whitney has a creative spirit and loves a good DIY.
