A North Carolina native, Jennifer has called Colorado Springs, CO, Lynchburg, VA, New Orleans, LA, and Charleston, SC home since graduating from Elon University in 2003. She has spent time as a journalist, event planner, and sports information director. Now, the Birmingham newcomer is a full-time marketing professional and owner of Birmingham Stork Lady, a sign rental service dedicated to welcoming new babies home. She has been married to her husband Mike for eight years, and together they have three daughters.

After graduating from college, Julie worked for ten years as a paralegal and as a medical software programmer before becoming a SAHM to her and her husband’s two toddlers. Life is crazy for her these days, but a lot of Jesus and a little exercise and painting keeps her sane! Leah grew up in a small town in north Jefferson County. She attended UAB and graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She is the community editor of 280 Living newspaper. A resident of Chelsea since 2005, Leah and her husband Todd have been married for 16 years and have a son, Carson, and daughter, Morgan. If there is every downtime in her schedule, you will find Leah at Starbucks, Target, getting a pedicure or spending time with her girlfriends.
Mallory grew up in Oklahoma, met her husband Dave in college there, and they have lived in Maryland, Michigan, and now Alabama since getting married ten years ago. They are parents to three sweet little girls, ages 5, 3, and 1. Four years ago they moved to Birmingham, and Mallory now works as a college professor, where she teaches the best students around and also conducts research on the topic of exercise during pregnancy.

Ashley lives in Leeds but is originally from the small, one-redlight town of Grant in North Alabama. She attended Auburn University where she met her husband, Ryan, and married him a couple of months after getting her Bachelors degree in 2011.Now she has her dream job of being a stay-at-home-mom to her two daughters; E is 4 and M is 2.When Ashley is not busy with her girls or church, she can be found cooking, scouring the internet for good deals, listening to music or podcasts, reading, or drinking coffee.
Brandi is a southern girl through and through. Born and raised in Arkansas, she met an Alabama boy named Michael in college, got married, then settled in Alabama a few years later after traveling and living overseas. Brandi lives in Homewood with Michael and her two sons Noah (6) and Sam (2). She has been a full-time working mom, a stay-at-home-mom and a part-time working mom, and she is thankful for all three experiences.
CaMeisha was born in Birmingham and grew up in Bessemer, Alabama. She holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from Lawson State Community College. She recently graduated cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in Collaborative Education- General and Special Education. She is presently pursuing their dream as a first-year teacher in Homewood. She is a divorced mother of two beautiful daughters, Morgan 8, and Meagan 7.
Christine lives with her husband of 20 years, Ernie and their three children , Eli (16), Sawyer (14), and Olivia (11) and their sweet Lab, Rocket, in Gardendale, AL. She is proud to call herself a wife, mom, daughter, friend, Physical Therapist, and colon cancer survivor. A lover of fashion, home decor, and also a great bargain, she can be found at her local consignment shop, thrift store, or TJ Maxx when not cheering for her kids at baseball, football, or cheer.
Dominique is originally from Mobile but has called Birmingham home for the last 10 years. She has been married to her husband, Chris, for almost nine years, and they have two daughters together; ages seven and four. She works from home as a freelance copywriter and editor, creating and editing social media marketing posts for various companies. When not working or crafting with her girls, Dominique enjoys being a troop leader for her oldest daughter, a Sunday school teacher, and poking lots of fun at the highs and lows of motherhood.
Erin is a transplant, relocating to Birmingham from the midwest just over three years ago. Born and raised in Wisconsin, she met her husband Karl while attending Purdue University. They had no idea when they received the opportunity to move south that the city had so much to offer. Together the couple has two girls: Hadley (6) and Allyson (9).
Whitney is an Alabama native and mama to sweet triplet girls, Remi, Rylee, and Ruth. She and her husband Ben love the challenge of raising triplets and find joy in being “those people.” As a former elementary school teacher, Whitney has a creative spirit and loves a good DIY. As the daughter of a military man, Kristen was born in England and spent the first 5 years of her life there, but Alabama has always been her "true" home. She was raised from then on in Wetumpka, Alabama, which was most recently the town was chosen to have a remodel by Ben and Erin Napier, who are stars of the HGTV show "Hometown". Kristen graduated in 2004 from Auburn University where she met her husband Jeff, whose she has been married too for 15 years. They have four children together, ages 12, 10, 10, and 3 and reside in Homewood.
Krystin was born and raised in Birmingham. Now over 3 decades later, she finds herself married to an awesome guy who is also Birmingham born and raised and a homeschool mom to 4 amazing kiddos who get to grow up exposed to everything our amazing city has to offer. By day she is a blogger and influencer at Growing Up Godfrey, where she helps busy moms live, love, and teach their children with joy. And at night – you can find her hanging with her husband and kids.
Originally from North Carolina, Dr. Leesha says that her husband, Kenneth, dragged her to Birmingham, kicking and screaming. Now, ten years later, she is proud to call this hidden gem her home. She and Kenneth have been married for almost 17 years and have 3 beautiful, energetic children that keep their lives busy and fulfilling.
Audra Smith did not spend her childhood in Alabama, but got down here as fast as she could! Originally from Ohio, Audra met and married her husband (of nearly 6 years now), Brian, while in college, and they decided to move to Alabama on a whim a year after graduation. Audra now resides in the Chelsea area (Sterrett) with her husband Brian, daughter Nora Jo, and living security system (lab/hound mix) Hamilton.
Brittany was born in Birmingham and grew up in the Cahaba Heights community. She recently moved back to Birmingham after spending the past twelve years in the Huntsville area. Brittany graduated from Auburn University and is an elementary teacher. Since moving back to Birmingham she is a special needs paraeducator. Brittany and her husband, Brent, have three kids, ages 10, 6, and 4.
Cathy Tuggle Maple was born in Birmingham and grew up in Forestdale. After graduating from the University of Alabama her heart told her Mt. Olive is home. There she resides with her husband of 17 years Tony, son Cory Davis 20, a student at UAB , daughters Molly, 15 and Jesilyn, 14 and rescue dogs Brody and Bailey.
Meet Claudia, the wife of a veteran, mother of 2, and a special education teacher. She’s a Mississippi native by way of Texas currently living in Alabaster. Claudia and her husband, Marlon, have been married for 9 years and they have two children, an 8-year-old daughter, and a 3-year-old son. She has been a teacher for the last 14 years and a former dance coach for 6 years. Outside of being a wife, mom, and educator, she is the founder and content creator of Moms Bounce Back, a lifestyle blog, inspiring moms to bounce back from life’s experiences and regain confidence as a woman.
Emily, originally from Louisiana, lives with her husband, Jeremy and sons, Harrison (5) & Elliot (1) in Mc Calla. She recently moved from South Louisiana to the Birmingham area when her husband left his career in psychology to become a youth pastor. Emily is an elementary teacher by day, and blogger by night at her personal blog Louisiana Bride. She began blogging to document her wedding planning during the dark ages (before Pinterest). She has since transitioned her blogging style to sharing recipes, meal planning ideas, and the humor in her daily life.
Hannah Pruitt never thought she would find herself living in Alabama...due to the unbearable summer temperatures. Her love for her husband, John, apparently overrides her desire to know what winter actually feels like. They live in Pelham, where she homeschools their five year old daughter, Adelaide, while also chasing one year twins, Edith and Vera. Hannah can be found wandering in the woods most days, because hiking means she’s not at home to face the mountains of laundry and unwashed dishes.
My name is Jocelyn Martin who did a lot of her growing up in Birmingham. I am the oldest of 6 kids & so close with all of them. At Auburn University I met my much-better half, Marty We got married and within a few years started having our babies. With 1 girl & 3 boys we like to say, "we have a little bit of drama & a whole lot of dirt." Baylor (16), William (14), Whitt (12) & Lee (7) keep us busy with school, sports, singing & a whole lot of running around the neighborhood.
Kerra was raised in a small Alabama town named Corner but finds her heart often wandering to the farthest corners of the world. She served in the Himalayas and therefore has a deep love for Asia and the international population as a whole. After becoming a stay-at-home mom, she volunteered with Perspectives, a study program to help others understand God's love for the nations and always has her doors open to the international community of Birmingham. One of the things she loves most about the city is the diversity mixed with Southern hospitality.
Kristin is a small town girl, living just outside of Birmingham. She fulfilled the “city girl” portion of her life during college at UAB and has worked in the downtown area for almost twenty years. She has been married to her high-school sweetheart since college graduation and is currently renovating the home she grew up in! They have three daughters, Ella (12), Sophie (8), and their newborn, Polly.
Laura Prewitt, 38, is a proud native of Birmingham, having lived here all life with the exception of college at Florida State University in Tallahassee, and a semester abroad in Spain. After graduating in 2004, she moved back to attend UAB, receiving a Masters in Communication Management. She is currently a full time SAHM but does take on the occasional freelance marketing project, and is excited for the opportunity to write and share with other parents.
Born in China, Lisha moved to America at the age of 9. In her first few years here, Lisha became fluent in English, gained an abnormal love for boy bands and glitter lip gloss, and learned to love pizza. After graduating from Auburn University in 2006, Lisha moved to Birmingham to attend Cumberland School of Law. While in Birmingham, Lisha met her husband (Henry) and they have been married for 7 years. In 2016, they welcomed identical twin boys into the word. Lisha had a baby girl 22 months later, in 2017.
Bobbi was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where she graduated from the University of Alabama with her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and later moved to Birmingham in 2010. She soon after met her husband who she has been married to for 6 years now. She has two children, Charlotte and Jacob.
Caitlin moved to Alabama from Virginia as a young child and has lived in and around Birmingham since. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Alabama and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She currently works full-time at a local, nonprofit child welfare agency, Agape of Central Alabama, and holds the title of Adoption Supervisor.
Cherith was born and raised in Talladega, but has called Pell City home since graduating from Auburn University in 2001. Cherith is married to her high school sweetheart and they have two children, ages 19 and 17. Cherith received her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Samford University in 2018 and currently works as the Section 504 & Homebound Specialist for a local school district. Courtney moved to Birmingham six years ago with the dream of becoming a nurse in the Neonatal ICU. She left behind her five wild brothers but brought along her high school sweetheart, David. David and Courtney got married after their freshman year at UAB. They thrived on cans of soup while pursuing their education and working odd jobs. Courtney graduated and landed her dream job in the Neonatal ICU. One year later, her husband also graduated and began working as an Engineer. They now live in Trussville with their 16-month-old son, Noah.
Just days after graduating from Auburn University, Ericka took a trip to Africa that changed her life forever. She discovered two unexpected things there: a passion for orphan care, and her husband Rusty! Together they founded The Sound of Hope, and have spent the past 10+ years working to provide holistic care to vulnerable children around the world. Though her heart (and time) is divided between other countries – she’s proud to call Birmingham, Alabama home!
Holly has spent almost her entire life in Alabama. Holly connected with her husband Chris over the groom’s cake at her cousin’s wedding and married exactly two years after their first date 18 years ago. Before having three sweet babies in five short years, Holly and Chris flipped seven houses before Fixer Upper had graced American television sets. If she is not working or enjoying activities with her children, you will find her antique shopping, pouring over decorating magazines, gardening or setting a southern dinner table.
Katie, a native Alabamian, came to Birmingham in 2012 to pursue a master’s from UAB in Mental Health Counseling. She works as a Licensed Professional Counselor in her practice, Present Wellness Counseling, LLC, as well as in a residential treatment center for substance abuse. She and her husband were married in 2007 and have a son, Harpin, who’s been keeping them busy since 2016. She is learning daily how to bridge her child development background with real-life motherhood moments, and she is excited to share these experiences with her BMB readers.
Born and raised just outside of Birmingham in Fairfield, AL, Korliss is married to Kelvin and they have a 9-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter. Korliss has enjoyed working in human services and career development, but now she loves being a college Psychology instructor and doctoral candidate. When she’s not in school, with friends or volunteering at her church, she’s talking and blogging about travel and Disney…mostly Disney, though! She decided to create Your Disney Homegirl, which is her platform to encourage more Black families and families of color to get a taste of what Disney offers.
Kristina is an Alabama native who came to Birmingham in 2005 for college (has it really been 15 years?!). She had lived in Muscle Shoals her whole life up until that point. After graduating from UAB in 2009 with a degree in journalism and a minor in music, she married Paul in 2011.
Lauren is a Chicago native turned Alabama resident. She came to Alabama leaving behind great pizza, tall buildings, and white winters to become a doctor. Little did she know, she would meet one special person who would change her life forever. Now Lauren resides in Hoover with her husband, Dell, and two kids, Brysen and Karsyn. She enjoys busy days, quiet nights, football, and barbeque.
A Michigan native, Marjorie attended Eastern Michigan University for her undergraduate and graduate education. But after meeting “the one”, she followed her now-husband, Kyle, to Louisiana, where she completed her counselor internships. Due to Kyle’s job, they have since lived in Ohio, Florida, and now Birmingham, Alabama! Marjorie previously worked as a career counselor but is now a stay-at-home and homeschooling mom of two. Her son is 5 and starting his Kindergarten year, and her daughter just celebrated her third birthday.
Martin was born and raised in the Tuscaloosa area. She obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of Alabama and moved to Birmingham to work in the financial industry shortly thereafter. She met her husband, Zac, while at a church small group. Martin and her family made the move to Zac’s hometown, Chelsea, a few years ago and have settled into the area and now call it home. They added to their family by welcoming a little girl. Both children, now ages 5 and 2, are full of life and keep Martin on her toes.
Rachel grew up in the Mountain State of West Virginia before moving to Tennessee, where she lived for almost 20 years. She received her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance in Clarksville, TN, where she met her husband, David. They moved to Alabama two years ago to start a church plant and have loved getting to know the great city of Birmingham! They have three children ages 7, 6, and 3. Some of Rachel’s favorite things include good coffee, Mexican food, and *thinking* about working out.
Stevie is married to Luke, and is a mom to two boys ages 4 (John Michael) and 1.5 (Jack). She grew up in a small town of Alabama called Alexandria, and graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008 with an accounting degree. After graduating from college she moved to Birmingham to start her career. She then met her husband (who is a Pleasant Grove native), and they live in the Liberty Park neighborhood of Vestavia Hills. She owns a business called "Balanced by Stevie" where she helps guide female entrepreneurs by helping them with bookkeeping & accounting!
Mary is a Northern girl living her best life in the South. She grew up in Pennsylvania and had the privilege of growing up in a suburb right outside of Philadelphia. Of course, she still loves cheering on Philadelphia sports (Fly Eagles Fly). In 2013 her family moved to Montgomery, Alabama so that her brother could pursue football. Montgomery is very special; it is where she met her husband, Chase. They met in a math class in high school (I know, how romantic). Now they have been married for almost 4 years and they have a sassy, Frozen 2 loving, 2-year-old (Claude).
Growing up, if Sarah wasn’t in a tree channeling her inner Anne Shirley, she was riding her bike on adventures through Texas pasture land. Sarah fell in love with her best friend Tony after they shared an on-stage kiss in their high school play. Together Sarah and Tony attended Baylor University where Sarah received her undergraduate and graduate degrees. After a brief stint in Jacksonville, Florida, Tony and Sarah moved back to Birmingham where they now live with their four children, Sophia, Vincent, Luisa, and Grace.
Tanisha Garnier received her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Alabama, then moved to Virginia Tech to pursue a doctorate in marriage and family therapy. She married her husband Victor in 2012, and they moved to Birmingham in the fall of 2013. She's worked as an employee assistance counselor, a day care worker, an adjunct college instructor, and an in-home family therapist. Today, Tanisha lives in Irondale with her firefighter husband, their spunky 2-year-old little girl, and their feisty tortie cat named Calliope.
Melissa is originally from the Mobile area but moved to Birmingham after graduating from Auburn University. After marrying and teaching for several years, she moved to a couple of different states so her husband , Bobby, could finish out his medical training. They came back to beautiful Birmingham in 2006 , and she is now a stay-at-home mom with their 5 children (ranging from ages 8- 17) and their two fur babies. It’s usually crazy and loud in their home but she loves having an open door policy to build community. She loves Jesus, the beach and connecting with others.
Sreyasi was raised in Mumbai, India. She loves traveling and meeting new friends along the way and learning about new cultures. She made an east to west coast move in a U-Haul truck to Los Angeles with her husband. She had her beautiful twin girls in Los-Angeles. They were preemies and were in NICU for a couple of weeks, she then decided to be a stay at home mom to take care of her babies. She and her family moved to Birmingham this year, her husband joined UAB as an Oncologist. She is incredibly happy that she can finally call Birmingham her home.
