Who said being a mom was easy?! That’s a statement that is definitely not true. I am a mom of six children, three boys and three girls. Their ages range from five years old to my oldest who is 24. Our busy schedules as moms often include play dates, doctor visits, teacher meetings, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and the list could go on and on. Along the way, I have picked up a few tricks to make being a mom fun and adventurous. Let’s enjoy being moms on purpose.

10 Tricks to a Fun, Busy Schedule

1. PLAN, PLAN, PLAN.

Schedule it! Don’t have a planner? Use your calendar on your phone. Planning sets you up to be prepared for setting the tone for that day while also providing time management.

2. Make a list.

From shopping lists, to-do lists, to grocery lists, if you write it down, then you’re less likely to forget. Being a mom means days can get really busy at times, and making a list turns the chaos into a bit of adventure. In addition to that, you can share the list with the kids and allow them to help finish your list.

3. Turn errands into fun games.

Let the adventure begin while making teachable moments super fun! This is the perfect time to use your list. You can have a scavenger hunt or a shopping adventure while playing “I Spy.”

4. Assign everyone a duty.

Kiddos love being a helpers. As soon as they hear, “Who wants to be my big helper?” they’ll often jump at the chance to assist you with whatever you’re doing. Keep tasks age appropriate. Most kids can help with dinner by setting/cleaning off the table and loading/unloading the dishwasher.

5. Organize!!!

Organization saves time. Everything has a place, and everything has a home. Have you ever been on your way out the door and you can’t find your keys? Maybe one of the children can’t find some type of sports equipment as you’re heading out the door for a game? To put an end to this madness, you should have a specific place for everything.

6. Make time for self care.

This is super important. In fact, this probably should have been number one. Take intentional time to recharge and refuel. Enjoy yourself; when you are at your best you give your best.

7. Turn bath time into fun time.

Add bath toys, bath bombs, bubbles, or bathtub paint. Just have fun!!!

8. Have dinner theme nights.

For instance you could implement Taco Tuesdays or breakfast for dinner nights. Be creative!

9. Family fun nights.

Have movie nights, game nights, or camping adventures! Having intentional bonding time is great way to ensure you stay connected as a family.

10. End each night with “I love you.”

Lastly, hearing those three words back from your sweet one at the end of the day is irreplaceable. In those moments, I’m sure you feel what your purpose is.

Enjoying Motherhood

While motherhood can be challenging at times with so much going on, let’s be sure to take time to stop, look around, and take it all in. I am a mother; I have given life to another–my child. I hope to enjoy each hug, kiss, dirty fingerprint, smiling face, laugh, diaper change, and seemingly endless hour of taxi driving.

So, mamas, enjoy it all. They grow up so fast. Enjoy each day as you create each adventure. You are made for this! Have fun and enjoy your motherhood journey; you are a mom on purpose!
