Birmingham Mom Collective is here! We have changed our name and our website design, but we have kept our heart for moms in Birmingham. Since launching over three years ago, we have been blown away by Birmingham’s response to this parenting resource. You all were ready to hear from others just like you, wisdom and insight from moms you could easily run into at the grocery store. You were ready for events catered to you, events celebrating motherhood while also recognizing that we all love to have a great time! We are still here for all of those things, just with a new name that reflects more of who we are and a redesigned website that showcases the content our contributor team works so hard to produce.
Birmingham Mom Collective Mission Statement
The mission of Birmingham Mom Collective is to support women in their roles as moms in this amazing city. We aim to inspire moms to be their best by sharing diverse parenting perspectives and helpful resources unique to our community. Our goal is to provide both encouragement and connection in every stage of motherhood.
What Birmingham Mom Collective Does
Birmingham Mom Collective provides content relating to parenthood in Birmingham, all written by local moms. You can find everything here from tips on breastfeeding triplets to fun date nights in Birmingham. The common theme is that we are all moms, and we want to support one another in this journey that can often feel lonely. New content is published almost daily, and it is all from our diverse group of contributors.
We have writers in all stages of motherhood, mothers of one child, and mothers of multiples. We have mothers through birth and mothers through adoption. We have single mothers and married mothers. We have mothers who stay home with their children and mothers who work full-time outside the home. We have homeschool moms, public school moms, and private school moms. We have mothers whose skin is light and mothers whose skin is dark. We want this to be a place where everyone can feel seen and encouraged, and diversity in all aspects of our contributor team is a priority.
While the content we produce and the resources we provide via our website and social media channels are huge parts of what we do, Birmingham Mom Collective also holds in-person events such as Bloom and Mummies’ Night Out. We love these gatherings where we celebrate moms in the Magic City!
How Birmingham Mom Collective Began
Birmingham Mom Collective falls under the City Mom Collective umbrella. The site is locally owned and operated, but we have the background support of our national network, including over 85 Sister Sites throughout the country. It’s so wonderful to share ideas with other women and business owners who are passionate about their cities! This provides us a huge pool of resources as we work to bring the best we can to Birmingham.
Birmingham Mom Collective is owned by three women, Julie Sasse, Betsy Guan, and Jenny-Lyn Yoon. Julie is the true face of the business, the one you’ll see in television interviews, at events, and hanging out with our 30+ member contributor team. She brought Betsy and Jenny alongside her for aspects of the business that are more behind the scenes, editing and sales coordination. The three women began work on Birmingham Moms Blog at the end of 2016, and the site launched in March, 2017. (Fun fact: Betsy and Jenny are sisters from Birmingham and friends of Julie’s. Each of them moved away from Birmingham, Betsy to Houston, Texas, and Jenny to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their experiences with City Mom Collective sites local to them encouraged them to help bring this amazing resource to Birmingham, a city where they remain very connected through family and friends.)

Our Heart for Birmingham
To say we love Birmingham would be an understatement. Southern charm, amazing food, and gorgeous scenery are abundant here, and we delight in those things. However, the heart of our city is the people. While we love this city dearly, we also recognize our painful past and the work that still needs to be done to bring healing to our friends and neighbors who are hurting. We want to see Birmingham overcome its deep racial divide. We believe the end of racism begins in our homes, and we are honored to have a platform speaking directly to the women who make those homes and to give voice to women who need to be heard.
It is our desire that this collaborative writing team be a true representation of the Magic City. We want to make this a place where, despite different experiences and different perspectives, all moms feel welcomed and valued. We celebrate all the beautiful colors and all the beautiful mothers in our city.
Our heart for Birmingham continues to grow as we get to know more amazing moms across the city.
Birmingham Families, we are excited about all that is to come. Thank you for how you have embraced Birmingham Moms Blog from day one. We can’t wait to see where we all go together as Birmingham Mom Collective.
