Birmingham’s Pizitz Food Hall

One of the many reasons I love living in Birmingham is our food scene. It has exploded over the last few years, and it doesn’t appear to be stopping any time soon. There is no shortage of new places to try, and that includes the incredible Pizitz Food Hall. Located downtown on 2nd Avenue North, the Pizitz Food Hall is a foodie’s paradise and a great place to gather for food and fun.Birmingham's Pizitz Food Hall is an incredible place to try new things! Date night or a family lunch outing is perfectly simple at the food hall. So many choices make Pizitz Food Hall a foodie's paradise.

What’s Inside Pizitz Food Hall

Anchored by two restaurants, the main attractions inside the food hall are the “food stalls.” Like a modern, refined version of a food court, these stalls allow diners to choose what they want to eat and when they want to eat it. Dessert first? Sure thing! That’s one of the best parts of being an adult in my opinion! How about a cheese plate to start out your meal? They’ve got that too.Birmingham's Pizitz Food HallBelow are some of the food stall offerings:

  • Ono Poke: classic Hawaiian poke dishes
  • Revelator Coffee: local coffee and complimentary pastries
  • The Standard: traditional hamburgers and hot dogs
  • Waffle Works: sweet and savory eats like chicken and waffles, beef waffle dog, and peach cobbler waffle topped with whipped cream
  • Busy Corner Cheese + Provisions: a sandwich stall featuring gourmet meats, cheese, and olive oils
  • Alabama Biscuit Company: sweet and savory toppings on stone-milled, old fashioned biscuits
  • Choza Taqueria: street style Mexican food
  • Eli’s Jerusalem Grill: Middle Eastern style food, including hummus, falafel, and schwarma
  • Ichicoro Imoto: jazzed up ramen with meat and vegetable broth
  • Lichita’s: authentic Mexican paletas (frozen ice pops)
  • mo:mo: bah mi and dumplings from the former sushi chef at Bamboo on 2nd
  • Reveal Kitchen: a rotating food stall for chefs to try out a restaurant concept before becoming permanent

Anchor Restaurants

Birmingham's Pizitz Food HallThere are two permanent, full service restaurants at the Pizitz Food Hall. The first, Ghion Cultural Hall, is Birmingham’s first Ethiopian restaurant. I haven’t had the chance to dine there, but I’m eager to see what it’s all about. It will definitely be out of my comfort zone, but that’s not a bad thing! The second anchor restaurant is Fero, a modern take on classic Italian fare.

Non-Food OptionsBirmingham's Pizitz Food Hall

Believe it or not, the Pizitz Food Hall is not just about food! One of the main attractions in the hall is The Louis, a bar smack dab in the middle of the building. Offering classic drinks and specialty cocktails, The Louis is a great gathering place to sit and stay a while. Additionally, Yellowhammer Creative, a Birmingham design company, has Birmingham-themed merchandise available for purchase, and Warby Parker can take care of all your stylish eye wear needs.

Should You Take Your Family?Birmingham's Pizitz Food Hall

Both times I have visited Piztiz Food Hall, I’ve been with my girlfriends for a moms’ night out. I visited the Warby Parker store the week after it opened during the day, and I did notice more families then than I did at night. With their outdoor seating options, I can see Pizitz being a great place for a family lunch date. In the later hours, it’s mostly adults enjoying a night out, but that’s not to stay that kids aren’t welcome. Be prepared to take your time and enjoy all Pizitz Food Hall has to offer!
