Birmingham
I have lived in Alabama all my life. I grew up in Muscle Shoals and moved to Birmingham after graduating high school to attend UAB. I graduated in 2009 with a major in journalism and a minor in music. While at UAB, I was a Marching Blazer (on clarinet) all four years of college. I met my now-husband, Paul, right before I graduated via a new-fangled concept at the time: online dating. We got married in 2011 and lived in an apartment in Riverchase for about a year before buying our home in Alabaster.
Moms
Paul and I got the biggest surprise of our lives in December 2018 when we went in for a routine eight week ultrasound at my first OB appointment.
We were expecting to see just one heartbeat, but we saw two! We were expecting “spontaneous” twins. I don’t think that we remember anything the ultrasound tech or the doctor told us that day.
Two girls, Elle and June, were born in July of 2019, when I was exactly at 38 weeks (only because my doctor wouldn’t let me go any longer)! We are both very new to this whole parenthood thing and are definitely learning as we go. Elle and June were definitely on the small end in terms of weight (approximately six and five pounds, respectively), but they eat like horses and have grown like weeds.
Blog
I have toyed with having my own blog for awhile. I have dabbled in blogging before, but I can never keep up with it. Here’s hoping that Birmingham Moms Blog can keep me honest! I am very excited to share my viewpoint of not only being a new mom, but a mom of multiples to boot. We have definitely hit the ground running with parenthood. By using advice from family and friends, as well as making our own traditions, we are finding our own way. I am so excited to be here!
