Birmingham

Born and raised in Mississippi by way of Texas, Birmingham has been my home for the last two years. After spending several years in Texas while my husband was in the military, we knew it was time to move closer to family. After many long hours of praying and contemplating which city and state would be best for our family, my husband and I decided it would be the Birmingham area, and what a great decision. Change is never easy, but we have adjusted very well. One of the things I love about Birmingham is the sense of community. After moving to this area, I was doubtful about finding resources and services to support myself and my family’s needs. I am so thankful for the outpouring of responses that I’ve had from so many people here who were willing to reach out and assist me with any of our needs. This is one of the most important concerns for a mom, and I am glad Birmingham has met that expectation.

Mom

I am a mother of two and some say I have the best of both worlds by having a boy and a girl. My daughter, who’s eight, is our little old school princess. Our son, who’s four, is our big burst of energy! Becoming a mother changes your life. Suddenly, another human being is dependent on you. One of the things I enjoy about motherhood is the smiles on my children’s faces expressing their happiness. I love being able to nurture them when they don’t feel well or just need a hug. I enjoy teaching them about life’s experiences through history, education, play, and daily discussions.

One of the things that no one tells you about motherhood is how easy it is to become overwhelmed with everything that needs to get done. Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom or you work outside the home, there is one universal truth that all moms know: keeping everything organized seems impossible. One of the challenges I’ve experienced would be finding practical ways that can help me stay organized and reduce the stress associated with all the tasks that busy moms must accomplish every day.

Collective

I am excited about this new journey with BMC. This opportunity will allow me to put my service heart to work and represent moms of color in the Birmingham community. I love people and giving back to others. Birmingham Mom Collective’s interaction with our community is so liberating, and I love how the focus is on giving moms the support they need. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and knowledge with other moms to provide a different perspective on motherhood.

My passion is empowering full time working moms to find the confidence to live out their dreams, which is why I created my lifestyle blog Moms Bounce Back. As moms, we wear so many hats and lose a sense of self after having kids and putting our dreams aside to be a mom. I would like to utilize this platform to remind moms that they are a woman first with goals and aspirations. Being able to expand to a variety of audiences to inspire moms in gaining that confidence they once had is what I’m most looking forward to.
