Birmingham
My story does not begin in Birmingham, but I have been able to call this beautiful city “home” since 2006.
Growing up, I lived in two different countries, three different states, attended three different elementary schools, two different middle schools, and two different high schools. After I moved to Birmingham to attend law school at Cumberland School of Law, I was more than ready to find my own home base.
While it is a large city, Birmingham offers a close-knit community feel. Birminghamians are invested in the community, support the local businesses, and take advantage of all the fun events this city has to offer. I live in a suburb of Birmingham and work downtown, and regardless of the time of day at either location, I see families everywhere. While the constant moves in my childhood had some advantages, I am happy to be able to offer my children a hometown and a place to make childhood memories.
My husband, Henry, is a native of Birmingham. It is so fun taking our kids to the places that he also enjoyed as a kid!
Moms
I have identical twin boys (Vance and Liam) and a baby girl (Grey) who were born 22 months apart. People always ask if we intended to have three children within two years. The answer is no. I cried (not happy tears) when I found out I was having twins, and cried again when the pee-stick told me I was pregnant with a third. I am an only child and have always been career-driven. Even though I wanted to have kids, the thought of being a mom never felt natural to me.
It feels surreal writing that because now I want all.the.kids. Seriously. I have been known to ask people if I could smell their baby. Motherhood has changed me and my view of the world. It has also made me softer, both figuratively and literally.
Blog
I am a full-time mom and a full-time lawyer, and the mom part has proven to be more exhausting and definitely more challenging. I am excited to be a part of such a great community of moms who are going through similar trials and struggles. My goal is to make this a no-judgement zone. Let’s make mistakes and get through them together.
