Birmingham Moms Blog :: Introducing {Staci}

Birmingham

My husband and I moved to the Birmingham area over one year ago. After spending a few months in Birmingham before that, we knew that Birmingham was our new home. I’m quite sure that it is impossible to spend time in this city and not fall in love with it. Between the people, places, and things to do, there is something for everyone. The many attractions, opportunities, people, and community in this beautiful city made choosing to raise our daughters in Birmingham an easy decision.

Moms

Two beautiful girls and one precious son have made me a momma over the last eight years. Audrey is eight years old and would spend most of her time curled up in a chair with a good book if given the choice; Birmingham Moms Blog :: Introducing {Staci}she is definitely her mother’s child. She is kind, sensitive, and is often wise beyond her years. My son, Barrett, was stillborn in 2012. It was through his precious life that I discovered my love for writing, as it was how I expressed myself and connected with others in the days after the loss. Our rainbow baby, Cathleen, turned three years old in September, and to say that she keeps me on my toes is an understatement. She keeps us running between sports practices and games already, and I never know what is going to come out of her mouth. Her spunky personality always has us laughing. Unexpected health issues left us with the reality that Cathleen would for sure be our last biological child which has added new elements to my motherhood path.

I truly feel that motherhood is one of the most rewarding, yet challenging journeys in life. I’m quite sure there is nothing better than the gift of being able to pour into these tiny humans, and there is nothing more rewarding than watching them grow, learn, and develop their own unique identities. At the same time, the magnitude of that responsibility is a challenge in and of itself, and when you throw in 2:00 a.m. wakeup calls, temper tantrums because a cup is blue instead of red, or sibling squabbles, you are also faced with the challenge of holding on to your sanity. They keep me running and often make me crazy, but there is no way I would trade a single second of our busy life.
