Birmingham

I was born in California but moved to Birmingham at the very young age of two. My parents were quick to help me embrace the Southern ways of life that I’ve now fallen in love with. From Birmingham Belles to all things monogrammed, college football, sweet tea, and home style cooking, I love all that Southern hospitality has to offer.

I’m a complete homebody and stayed in Birmingham to attend college at Samford University. Before college, I don’t think I fully appreciated all my city had to offer me. During college, I loved using the Lakeshore running trails, studying at the Botanical Gardens, and heading downtown for dinner and a last minute concert with friends.

Birmingham is where I met my husband, Jonathan, reconnected with him some 20 years later, married, and had our three children. What makes this the most special place to us is our proximity to family.

Moms

I always dreamed of being a stay-at-home-mom, but after our struggle with infertility, I felt even stronger about staying home with my children. Some suspect our main motive for this is avoiding the childcare costs for three two-year-olds (that’s right, we have TRIPLETS), but the real truth is I just wanted to have that time with my trio.

Being a mom of multiples (MoM) is one of the hardest, but most rewarding jobs I’ve ever had. I am humbled on a daily basis and we’re always a spectacle when we venture in public, but I love connecting with other MoMs (solidarity sister!) and seeing the special bond my trio has with one another. I’ve always been a big planner and a perfectionist, but my three teach me daily that some of our best moments in life come unplanned.

So many moms have played a role in guiding me through the unknown territory of being a mom. I am excited and humbled to hopefully give back to others through this opportunity of writing for Birmingham Moms Blog. Let’s be honest, being a mom is probably the hardest job I’ve ever had, and some days are epic failure. I hope I can be transparent and inspire you even in the smallest moments to be the mom you’re called to be.

Stacey O
Stacey grew up in Birmingham and being the homebody she is, decided to stay and attend college at Samford University where she earned a degree in elementary education. She always dreamed of being a SAHM, but never imagined she'd be using her classroom management savvy to help raise BGG triplets. She met her husband, Jonathan, at the dear age of five, but it took them 20 more years and lots of different paths to realize they were meant for each other. A major planner at heart, Stacey is learning that some of the best things in life come in the unexpected. She and her husband currently live in Bluff Park and enjoy the unique challenges that their exciting family life brings. When she does get time to herself, Stacey enjoys exercise-especially Zumba, chai lattes, pedicures, a good book, and quality time with friends.
