90 Days of Gratitude

woman writing in a journalToday marks the start of me trying something different.

Though I love to write, I can’t remember the last time I’ve journaled. Just as an adult, especially lately as a busy mom, I know it’s been close to never. Recently I read an article that declared keeping a gratitude journal was life altering.

Full transparency: Recently I’ve been all for extra ways to keep my spirit lifted as we slowly navigate through life and a sense of normalcy (somewhat) post-pandemic. Right now I’m focusing a lot on mindfulness and elevating vibrations so a daily focus on gratitude felt like an easy yet necessary step.

What is a Gratitude Journal?

In a nutshell, a gratitude journal is a diary of reflections and intentions to foster a more positive mindset. The goal is to focus on the good around you in order to fully shift from dwelling on the negativity of the world and even of your own life. Though not a pessimist, I certainly could afford to give the noise of negative a little less attention!

So, in typical 2022 fashion, I hopped right on over to Amazon to find a gratitude journal. For a small investment of $5.99 I found a simple paperback journal that allows for 90 days of entries, twice a day. Each sheet is comprised of affirmations for the day, daily learnings, goal setting, etc. The objective is to journal first thing in the morning and the last thing at night before bed.

What I Wish to Gain Over The Next 90 Days

All of us have so much to be thankful for, but, in full disclosure, I know it’s super easy to let the little things hijack you from the big picture. Social media and societal standards, especially, remind us that what we have is never enough. There is always someone ready to tell you that you need to make more money, your parenting style should be different, your relationship/marriage should look this way, etc. Personally, I only wish to gain these few things over the next 90 days:

  1. A renewed sense of gratitude for others and self awareness
  2. An increase of visionary thinking
  3. Increased mindfulnesses
  4. Dedicated time for prayer and meditation
  5. A better version of myself

The Expected Gains

As a mom I’m learning that continuous self improvement benefits my children just as much as myself. Healing and self mastery is fundamental. My hope and expectation is that this tiny investment of daily time will yield a life-changing reward that will shape my mindset as well as those around me.

Here’s to day 1!
