St. Patrick’s Day is coming up! Did you know that Birmingham offers several fun events for your favorite green holiday? Here’s your round up of family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day events in Birmingham…

1. Shamrock Family Fun Run

WHEN: March 16 at 9:00 am

WHERE: Patriot’s Park, 600 Industrial Rd, Alabaster, AL

DETAILS: If shenanigans and malarkey are your thing, don’t miss the Shamrock Family Fun Run to support the Albert L. Scott Library! Lace up your sneakers and don your best Irish attire! Come run, walk, or dance your way across the finish line at this family friendly event. Don’t want try your luck alone? Create a team of 6 or more for a fun day out with friends! Four legged friends are welcome but please follow park rules and leash your pet. This is a fun run or walk (1.5K), not a race, that will have lots of fun stops along the way including color blasts, snacks and games! Check in begins at 8:30 and the event starts at 9:00 am at Patriots Park. The fun run is to benefit the Library Building Fund.

2. 40th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade

WHEN: Saturday, March 16th, 2024

WHERE: Five Points South. Click HERE to view the parade map. 

DETAILS: Put on some green and feel the luck of the Irish at the 40th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Five Points South! The parade will start on 10th Ave. S. along Brother Bryan Park, turn left and travel up 20th Street South starting at 1:30 p.m. It will be led by the Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band and other area organizations and businesses, and will end at 2:30 p.m. Click HERE to view the parade map. 

3. St. Patrick’s Day Crawfish and Shrimp Boil

WHEN: Saturday, March 16th

WHERE: Oak Mountain Brewing

DETAILS: St. Patrick’s Day beer specials and hot boiled crawfish and shrimp with all the sides…. what’s not to love? Come on out in your best St. Patrick’s green for some great craft brews and hot boiled Louisiana crawfish! Crawfish is till it’s gone so get here early and get your trays! Live Music by Anna Shinholster on the OMBC stage from 1-5pm!

4. 2nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Crawfish Boil

WHEN: Saturday, March 16th at 12 pm

WHERE: Birmingham District Brewing Co.

DETAILS: Prepare to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in style with the 2nd annual Crawfish Boil at Birmingham District! Join us for a delicious feast of fresh crawfish, courtesy of Red Mountain Crawfish Co., and wash it down with a cold brew. Don’t forget to wear your best green attire – there may even be a prize for the best-dressed attendee!

5. St. Patrick’s Day in Five Points South

WHEN: Sunday, March 17th, 2024

WHERE: Five Points South

DETAILS: Spend the day in Five Points South enjoying all things Irish! From 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., participating restaurants and bars will offer Irish-themed food and drink specials, along with live entertainment. For more details, visit their website
