Did you miss Birmingham Mom Collective’s recent Facebook live with Dr. Corey Hartman of Skin Wellness Dermatology in Homewood? Never fear, we’ll break it down for you here!

“The Master Injector”

You read that right! Dr. Hartman is a Botox master. Not only is he well-trained in administering Botox, he often corrects Botox problems in patients originally caused by other providers.

While you may hear about people having Botox house parties or receiving Botox from a dentist or aesthetician, it’s important to always go to a board-certified dermatologist for skin procedures such as Botox.

Botox Details

Dr. Hartman sees both men and women in his office for Botox treatments. While Botox injections can be used to curtail sweating or to ease migraine pain, the majority of his patients see him for upper face injections: forehead, crow’s feet, and between the eyebrows. Some patients also elect to have injections in other areas such as around the lip and nose to correct a toothy smile and to create a perkier nose.

Most Botox injections last about four months, so you’re looking at three injection appointments per year.

Dr. Hartman generally starts out with 10-12 units in the forehead, 15-20 units between the eyebrows, and 8-12 units for crow’s feet, but can move up from there if needed.

Baby-tox

What in the world is that? I’m glad you asked! Dr. Hartman says younger and younger patients are choosing to start a small-dose Botox regimen in order to control and train the face muscles. He sees many men and women in their mid-20’s wanting to get a headstart on aging gracefully.

Botox Drawbacks?

Dr. Hartman says there are really no drawbacks to using Botox. The needle he uses is extremely small, and the procedure is very quick. There are no lingering side-effects when done by a professional except for the occasional short-lived bruising some patients may experience.

All Access Parties

Did you know Skin Wellness Dermatology offers what they call “All Access Parties”? Patients can book the office for an after-hours party complete with refreshments and libations, invite their friends and family, and receive Botox together! It’s a laid-back, non-threatening atmosphere where people can learn more about the ins and outs of Botox and receive an injection or two if they so choose!
