Urgent Care for Children (UCC) is a physician-owned pediatric urgent care provider founded in 2017 in Birmingham. This group of physicians (who are also parents) understood that children’s illnesses and injuries don’t always happen during normal business hours. They set out to provide affordable night and weekend care 365 days a year for children and never looked back!
Today, UCC operates eight clinics statewide in addition to a telemedicine portal that brings the clinic to you. This year, UCC is expanding outside the state of Alabama for the first time. Two new clinics can be found in Tennessee: Collierville (the Memphis area) is opening soon, and Hixson (the Chattanooga area) just opened Sunday, March 21st. More clinics are slated for other areas of the Southeast.
UCC aims to be a leader in children’s urgent care across the Southeast, while never forgetting their Birmingham roots. The corporate office is in Birmingham!
Bridging the Gap
UCC strives to bridge the gap between your child’s primary pediatrician and any healthcare needs you have outside your pediatrician’s normal business hours. In fact, after your appointment, the UCC providers send their treatment notes to your child’s primary pediatrician. How amazing is that?
UCC does not provide preventative healthcare, immunizations (besides the seasonal flu vaccine), or sports physicals. They do, however, see patients with non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses such as sore throats, allergies, infections, sprains, flu, strep, and so much more. UCC sees newborns through age 21.
Each clinic has an onsite lab, pharmacy, and x-ray services.
Our family has visited UCC multiple times through the years and have only had wonderful experiences. The waiting time is always minimal, the staff is extremely friendly, and the hours are so convenient. And staying out of the ER is a huge plus!
The COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout

As someone who has gone to them for COVID testing for myself and my child, I have nothing but praise for their entire process. Drive-thru testing for adults? Yes, please!
