Oxmoor Valley Orthodontics :: Reminder to Use Your Insurance Benefits!

We love partnering with Oxmoor Valley Orthodontics! This is sponsored content.
It’s no secret that we at Birmingham Moms Collective love Dr. Deborah Sema and her staff at Oxmoor Valley Orthopedics. Everything from Dr. Sema’s personable manner (one chat with her and you feel like you’ve known her forever) to their upgraded office safety procedures (air purifiers, additional top-of-the-line disinfectant spray, health screenings, and virtual appointments) puts every patient at ease.

We also love Oxmoor Valley Orthodontics’ gentle reminder to our readers to use those insurance benefits before the year’s end!

Use ‘Em or Lose ‘Em

This year has been crazy to say the least, so it’s no wonder many of us have forgotten to use our insurance benefits. Time is ticking, and those insurance benefits won’t be around much longer.

Oxmoor Valley Orthodontics would love to help get you started on that beautiful smile!

Types of Coverage

Check your insurance policy, because it may cover orthodontia. If orthodontics is covered on an insurance policy, there is usually a lifetime max along with an age limit.

Flex spending is a separate money account allocated by employees to use for any family member’s dental care/health care/copays, etc. Most people allocate for flex spending the year before they plan to use it. The benefits generally have a calendar year of January 1st through December 31st. If the money is not used before December 31st, the benefits are lost.

Health saving is money allocated for health and dental that rolls over from year to year.

Switching Insurance Coverage

Even if you’re planning to switch insurance coverage in the new year, Janet (Oxmoor Valley Orthodontics’ treatment coordinator) says it’s worth it to go ahead and give them a call. While not all insurances cover orthodontics, their office can always verify insurance coverage for you.

Janet has even seen patients start collecting from one insurance company in December, then start a new insurance in January and collect from that as well. Of course, in that scenario, the patient doesn’t usually get the full benefit, but every little bit helps. Janet is trained to help save Dr. Sema’s patients the most money possible.

Friendly Reminder

If you’ve been putting off any orthodontia services, remember that 2021 is just around the corner. Don’t forfeit any of your coverage!
