Birmingham

They say home is where the heart is, and my home is and always has been in Birmingham, AL. Most of my life has be spent around this great city with the exception of my college years at Auburn University and the past four years in Dallas, TX.

I grew up in the small town of Corner, just north of the city. Our little one-red-light town didn’t have much to do, so trips to the “big city” were a necessity for shopping, good restaurants, movies, etc. After graduating from Auburn University and marrying my husband, Adam, we moved to the Mt. Laurel area and lived there until four years ago when we relocated to Dallas. However, as of May of this year, we have been excited and proud to call Birmingham home once again!

My husband always wanted a big family (six children), so when we struggled for years and were unsuccessful in having children, it was devastating. Around six years ago, we started pursuing the long and crazy process of adoption. Although we hit numerous roadblocks along the way, last October we were finally matched with a birth mom — and she was expecting triplets! I am now the proud triplet mommy to Alie Ana, Alexandra, and Mila, born February 27th. Through years of prayer, struggles, and the beauty of adoption, God grew our family larger than we had hoped or dreamed.

At the time the girls were born, my husband and I were still living in Dallas, TX. We immediately moved six hours away to be with the girls 24/7 while they were in the NICU for their first two months of life and while we waited for our adoption to be finalized. Once they were finally able to come “home” with us, we made our way back to Dallas and decided that it was time to bring our new family “home” to Birmingham!

The past six months have been a whirlwind going from zero children to three, spending the two months in the NICU (9 hours away from friends and family), and moving twice. I have also been learning the insane balancing act of being a mommy of three, working full time, and being a loving wife. Although life is crazy these days, I wouldn’t change it for the world. Through God’s grace, I am finding joy in all of the daily chaos and documenting our triplet adventures on Instagram.

I am excited and honored to be joining this amazing group of women as a contributor for Birmingham Moms Blog! I often find myself looking to other moms for support, love, and guidance on a daily basis — whether it be moms in my family, other mom friends, triplet mothers, or other adoptive moms. Wow, what an amazing community and support system we can be to each other! I hope that I can bring a unique prospective to motherhood as an adoptive mother to multiples, and I also cannot wait to learn more from you all too!

Becky R
Becky was raised in the small town of Corner, Alabama just north of Birmingham. She attended Auburn University where she met her husband Adam. After marrying, they moved back to Birmingham and lived in the Mt. Laurel area with their three pups until four years ago when they relocated to Dallas, Texas where life took a triple-sized turn. In February 2018, their prayers were answered when they welcomed triplet daughters, Alie Ana, Alexandra, and Mila into their family. Through years of prayer, struggles, and the beauty of adoption, God grew their family larger than they had ever hoped or dreamed. As of May, they are proud to set their roots back in the Birmingham area again and to be surrounded by wonderful family and friends. Becky is learning the balancing act of working a full-time job, raising triplets, taking care of three dogs, and being a wife; but through God's grace, she finds joy in the chaos everyday. You can keep up with all this craziness on Instagram @reesetriplets.
