Ultimate Guide to Birmingham Outdoor Dining Spots

outdoor dining spotsOn Fridays we dine out. That has been part of the fabric of our family for as long as I can remember. My husband and I both did it with our families growing up, and we do it with our girls now. Unless we have another obligation, we look forward to our Friday nights out and about as a family. We are also a family that prefers to dine outdoors when the option is available. Dining outdoors used to only be an option for a few months of the year when we lived in the midwest. Now (thanks in part to the pandemic) it has become a 365-day-a-year opportunity. It’s often a tough decision to make given there are so many great Birmingham outdoor dining spots.

If you are looking for a quiet date night on a warm summer night or a large open area to let the kids burn off some energy before dinner, this list has a little something for everyone, and for every occasion. Without further ado, here are 45 different restaurants with designated outdoor seating areas ready to serve you and your family. Please note that this list is accurate at the time of publication; however, refer to the individual restaurants for their locations and hours of operation.

Erin is a transplant, relocating to Birmingham from the midwest in 2016. Born and raised in Wisconsin, she met her husband Karl while attending Purdue University. They had no idea when they received the opportunity to move south that the city had so much to offer. Together the couple has two girls: Hadley (9) and Allyson (12). Being a mom to two school-aged girls fills her with equal measures of love and anxiety. She believes that there is much to be learned from sharing motherhood stories and experiences because no one truly has it all figured out. Erin is the owner of Forté Dance Essentials, a new dancewear boutique located in Hoover. She also supports the brand building and marketing efforts of other small business owners as a marketing consultant.
