Tanisha G

Tanisha Garnier received her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Alabama, then moved to Virginia Tech to pursue a doctorate in marriage and family therapy. She married her husband Victor in 2012, and they moved to Birmingham in the fall of 2013. She's worked as an employee assistance counselor, a day care worker, an adjunct college instructor, and an in-home family therapist. In 2016, after losing her first child Xavier to preterm birth at 21-weeks, Tanisha stepped away from mental health work as well as her doctorate program. Two years later, she gave birth to her daughter Ezra Joy--another preemie--born at 24-weeks. Today, Tanisha lives in Irondale with her firefighter husband, their spunky 2-year-old little girl, and their feisty tortie cat named Calliope.
