Making Memories with First Day of School Signs (+ Free Printable!)

Back-to-school season is upon us, which means all the sweet back-to-school pictures popping up on social media! We love seeing the creative ways local moms celebrate their kiddos starting a new school year. Everything from chalkboard signs to letter boards, posters to t-shirts, and more. These are special memories that you and your children will be able to look back on as they grow.

To help get into the back-to-school spirit, we’ve created this free, downloadable printable that you can use to make your own first day of school memories! Simply print the PDF, fill in the blanks, and add your child’s photo. Or, you can upload this PNG file into your favorite editing app (there are plenty of free ones out there – we like Canva) to add your own text into the poster before printing. Voilà! Now you’re ready to take a first day of school photo of your child proudly holding his or her sign. (If you share on social media, please tag us @birminghammomcollective on Instagram and Facebook – we’d love to see it!)

Why Choose Printable Signs?

What we love about these printable signs is that they provide a snapshot of what your child is like right now. They are a fun alternative (or addition!) to chalkboard and letter board signs because not only are they easy to save (either in a baby book or electronically if you’re using an editing app), but you can also bind them all together into a First Day of School Memory Book to see how your child changes with each new school year!

How do you like to celebrate your child’s first day of school?

Kristina is the social media manager for Birmingham Mom Collective. She was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and moved to Helena at the end of 2019. She spent her early career working in the Psychology Department at the University of Washington as a Research Study Coordinator, and later transitioned to working at the UW Center for Child and Family Well-being as a Program Operations Specialist. After Kristina met and married her husband Landon (a traveling RN) in 2015, they ended the year with a cross country road trip and spent the next couple years traveling for Landon's work, bringing whatever they could cram into their Honda Civic. Her biggest adventure, however, has been becoming a stay-at-home-boy-mom to two active little boys! Kristina runs on caffeine and loves exploring the Birmingham area, being involved at church, trying out new recipes, doing at-home workouts in her closet, and being outside with her boys.
